| Pressing Grapes |
We got up late(ish) and morning tefila began. We followed
that by an amazing breakfast. We got our bags and prepared to leave Lavi where
we had been staying for the past 5 days.
We went to the Talmudic village of katzrin and pressed
grapes to make authentic wine and enjoyed olive oil and pita bread.
We spent some time in the afternoon volunteering along the banks of the Kinneret, where we cleared the tracks for the water so they wold be able to flow properly from the surrounding springs in to the river.
We then went to see the cave where Rabbi Shimeon bar Yochai, also known by his acronym Rashbi, a 2nd-century Tannaitic sage, hid from the Romans for many years. Following this we went to a Druze village and heard first hand from a member of the community about what life as a Druze is like. He showed us the oldest Jewish shul from the time of the second temple that is in the heart of their village.
